Due to the increased demand for land transportation in Europe, demand for new container ships has declined since June. According to the Latest Weekly report, the growth rate of new ships of super large container ships has also begun to slow down in its latest weekly report. The ship market has returned to the supply and demand balance.
According to RS Platou data, there were only 3 container ship orders in June, and the scale was less than 3000teu. According to data from Seatrade Global, the scale of new ship orders on the container ship market has dropped to 20%of the global fleet, which is obviously different from 50%before this year.
Industry insiders believe that the abortion of the P3 alliance is a key reason for the market's transformation. As the P3 Alliance expects to reach the market monopoly position, in order to compete for market share, 13000-18000teu's order wave appears in the new shipbuilding market. However, due to the termination of the alliance, the boom of the oversized container ship has cooled down. As of the end of June, the number of orders on the new shipbuilding market is 415 ships and 3.45 million TEU.
